The Life of Jon

Introduce yourself. Where are you from? Do you have any brothers and sisters? Do you have any pets? What do you like to do for fun?

My name is Jonathan Albright and I am from Allenwood, PA, a small town south of Williamsport. I have no brothers or sisters, but I do have friends that I consider brothers and sisters whether I like it or not. I have no pets, but at one time I had a dog, 2 hamsters, and what seemed to be an infinite amount of fish. For fun I like to bowl, (currently in 2 leagues with a 194 and 187 ave,) play Magic: the Gathering, listen to music, and play any type of sport when I am able to.

Do you have any experience with web development (HTML and CSS)?

I have a little experience in web development thanks to a full year attending Northampton Community College in Bethlehem. I've created multiple web sites through Mary Zegarski's classes whether I understood what I was doing or not. The second semester I learned a little bit of Java, the little bit that I actually understood what I was doing. I feel as if I could have learned more if I would have had a teacher that I could stand and that would help her students.

What year are you in at Penn College and what is your major?

This is my second semester and my first full year at Penn College. As I stated ealier, I have a full year in at Northampton which is located down in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Part of me wishes I would have stayed down there, while the other part is glad I transferred. Penn College is a bit more homelier than what NCC was, but I'm just going to say that's because I'm not couped up in a small dorm room with a horrible room mate.

Why did you decide on this major?

I decided on the Web and Interactive Media major because its something that interests me and something I can see myself doing for a career. It's something that I would be able to do from the comfort of my own home when I have a family of my own. It will also secure a job because there will always be businesses looking for somebody to create them a web site. Plus, the internet is not going anywhere anytime soon.

What do you see yourself doing as your career?

I can see myself being self employed in my own home office. Also like I stated before, it would be a big advantage when a family comes in to play. If that doesn't work out, I can see myself in an IT office developing websites. What I would really like to do is be the head in a Philadelphia sports complex. If the Philadelphia sports complex doesn't work out, any sports facility would be good enough for me. Another type of site that I would love to be able to have complete control over would be a band site.

What are the possible uses of HTML/CSS webpage development knowledge in your chosen career?

The possible uses could be creating websites. It could also be used to design the sites so that they look presentable to the company that wants to use the site.
